note: This album is one of the finest album recorded by The Wailers. Their first album after signing to Island Records. All of these songs could be considered classics tracks. It contains new versions of four songs that were previously recorded for other producers: CONCRETE JUNGLE (1971), FOUR HUNDRED YEARS (1970), STOP THE TRAIN (1970) and STIR IT UP (1967). Chris Blackwell strategy was to marketed the band the same way as a rock act. The Wailers were promoted among college radios stations. A very nice documentary is available on 'The making of' Catch A Fire, simply entitled: Catch A Fire. The original covers was a silver zippo, that could be oppened in to to find the vinyl. Contrary to regular remastered that include fillers, the two bonus tracks are simply excellent. The remastered edition has a very nice 12-page booklet that inlcude all the lyrics, compared to the unapropriate and deceiving 4-page booklet included in the initial 1988 CD edition (re-issued until the Remastered Edition came out in 2001).

The singles that were issued in Jamaica were: MIDNIGHT RAVERS, ROCK IT BABY and CONCRETE JUNGLE. The singles that were issued in UK were: BABY WE'VE GOT A DATE (with STOP THAT TRAIN (instrumental) on it's B-side) and CONCRETE JUNGLE. The song SLAVE DRIVER was featured on the B-side of GET UP STAND UP.

Note that a Deluxe Edition of this album was issued in March 2001. The bonus CD includes the original recording of the songs, without additional musicians.
